Caring for neighbours across Bedfordshire

HELP THY NEIGHBOUR brings practical, community-based care directly to your street. Because charity starts at home, we connect caring local volunteers with neighbours who need a helping hand.

Common questions about our initiative

Learn more about how HELP THY NEIGHBOUR works, who we support, and how local residents across Bedfordshire can take part in our grassroots community care.

Who can request support from HELP THY NEIGHBOUR?

Any resident living in Bedfordshire and surrounding areas who needs a helping hand—including elderly neighbours, individuals with mobility issues, and anyone experiencing temporary hardship.

Are support services free of charge?

Yes. Our volunteer assistance is offered completely free to neighbours in need. You only cover direct costs if you request volunteers to purchase groceries or prescription medicines on your behalf.

How are volunteers vetted and supported?

Every volunteer undergoes an identity check, brief induction, and basic reference review to ensure safety, trust, and reliability across our neighbourhood networks.

Which geographical areas do you currently cover?

We actively serve Bedfordshire and surrounding local towns and villages, focusing street by street so support is truly local and responsive.

How much time do I need to commit as a volunteer?

As much or as little as you like. Even 30 minutes a week to pick up shopping or make a friendly call makes an enormous difference to a local neighbour.

How can I refer a neighbour who needs help?

You can get in touch with our team via email or telephone with their consent, and we will organise an initial friendly check-in to understand how we can best assist.
